Elephant Mt. Hiking Trail is a very popular and classical track to Taipei citizens. It is very close to the center of Taipei city. Less than 30 minutes, you can reach the top of mountain from the trail entrance. We think it is the best site to see Taipei 101 and whole Taipei basin. Additional, there are also lots of trail branch separated from Elephant Mt. you can challenge your energy.
On the Sunday evening (July 26th), Brady from Australia, Bea from Spain, Julian from France, Ting from Taiwan and us had a simple and relaxing half day trip to the Elephant Mt. We were hiking, picnic, waiting the sunset and had a good time together. Even after the sun dipped below the horizon, it cannot stop us sharing travel experiences with each other and are also looking forward the night view in Taipei city.
After hiking, we went to TongHwa Night Market to experience Taiwanese style foot
massage for relaxing our sore legs and feet. Afterward, go to eat
Taiwan traditional gourmet & snacks to satisfy our stomach.

Elephant mountain, named by its shape just like an elephant's head, is the best site to see Taipei 101 and whole Taipei basin.
It is a very popular and common track to Taipei citizens. Local
residents may go for morning exercises when sunrise. Its beautiful night
view attracts photographers' eyes and also become one of the most
romantic dating place for lovers.
This Sunday, we will go hiking on Elephant mountain and picnic on the
top. Enjoy food, wine, nature, beautiful sunset and our life.
Our trip plan is listed below.
- Meet up place: Xiangshan station Exit2
- Meet up time: July/26 3:30PM
- Wearing: Sports shoes, casual wear
- Best to bring: A 4-ppl dish for picnic, Water, Flashlight & happy mood
- Participant cost:
- Must prepare a 4 ppl dish for picnic
- MRT transportation fee (~NTD 25)
- Massage (~NTD 1000/hr)
- Snacks in night market(~NTD150)
- Plan:
- Hike on top of Elephant mountain then picnic on the top. After
sunset, go back to Xiangshan station then take MRT or Ubike to TongHwa
night market. (About 3 hours).
- Experience Taiwanese style feet
massage for relaxing your sore legs and feet. After that, go to eat
Taiwan traditional gourmet & snacks to satisfy your mouth and
stomach. (About 3 hours)
